The world around us is changing quickly, and AI and other technologies are becoming an ever larger part of our lived experiences and classrooms. Technology can be intimidating, confusing, or even scary when it is new. With ChatGPT suddenly dominating headlines, educators are finding themselves asking: What is ChatGPT? How are students and fellow teachers using chat GPT? What opportunities and risks accompany utilizing this type of technology?  The morning workshop from the Rural Educators Technology Kickoff Workshop, Leveraging AI Tools for Learning: ChatGPT in the K-12 Classroom, created an open space for us build a shared vocabulary and expand our understanding of AI tools so that we can begin to feel more confident exploring these questions and the impact of artificial intelligence in our classrooms.
